ETA Communications Production Coordinator
Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL) Energy Technologies Area (ETA) Office has an opening for an ETA Communications Production Coordinator to join the team.
In this exciting role, you will work with department staff and subject matter experts on problems of limited scope, including proofreading and copy editing written content, formatting and sizing imagery and multimedia files, posting written and multimedia content to online content management systems and other digital communications platforms, and performing digital production checks to ensure that published material is of the highest quality. You will also provide general coordination of communications projects and perform periodic content reviews of ETA web properties, update select websites as needed, and track and report key performance indicators relating to social media, news media, digital newsletters, internal communications, and other digital platforms. A typical day could consist of working with a department writer to proofread and post online a science article and its multimedia assets, populating a digital newsletter with written and photo content, and quality-checking it before distribution. You will monitor the office’s ticketing system for communications requests and support needs, checking ETA’s websites for outdated material and alert page owners of needed updates. You will help department members prepare, produce, and finalize high-quality internal communications and social media content.
What You Will Do:
- Post and update content to ETA Websites (both Drupal and WordPress), Constant Contact, Elements, email newsletter platforms, and other digital platforms.
- Prepare images and other multimedia for integration with digital content and with guidance help find and size archived photos or stock art/imagery.
- Copy edit/proofread written articles.
- Perform digital production quality control checks and needed adjustments prior to posting ‘go live’.
- Assist with digital asset file management.
- Coordinate and process support tickets.
- Monitor deadlines.
- With guidance, handle communications with clients as needed.
- Assist with coordinating projects assigned to subcontractors.
- Assist with coordinating media/reporter requests.
- Perform monthly ETA web content audits for outdated or irrelevant content.
- Alert appropriate content owners of outdated or irrelevant content.
- Update ETA and other web properties.
- Assist with providing training and guidance to ETA staff who assist with editing various ETA websites.
- Assist with tracking analytics for website metrics.
- Format, update, and copy edit content on digital newsletter platforms (for example, Constant Contact).
- Copy edit/proofread external communications content.
- Assist with Powerpoint reviews and formatting on tight deadlines.
- Assist with coordinating communications needs around special events.
- Coordinate the monthly distribution of ETA’s Internal Newsletter.
- Format, update, and monitor slides appearing on Berkeley Lab digital displays; Copy edit/proofread internal communications content.
- Post content to internal communications platforms, such as the intranet and Elements.
- Assist with coordinating communications needs around special events.
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, and posting on social media channels with relevant and timely content; Assist with tracking performance metrics of social media channels.
What is Required:
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, or journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience and/or education in digital production, writing and editing, photo editing, and/or organizational communications.
- Experience posting text and multimedia content to commonly used digital platforms and content management systems.
- Tech savvy and experience in the use of internal and external communications tools and platforms (such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Suite, social media, and commonly used content management systems such as WordPress and Drupal, and other digital platforms).
- Ability to learn and use new digital platforms, CMSs, and approaches.
- Strong demonstrated writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments, work collaboratively with others, adjust schedules based on changing requirements, and work well under pressure/during tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated excellence in all areas of customer service.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in digital production, writing and editing, organizational communications, and/or journalism.
- Experience in the use of digital analytics and online communications tools and platforms (such as Google Analytics, Constant Contact or other digital email platforms, Cision or other news media monitoring and reporting platforms, etc.).
- Experience with data analytics and reporting.
- Experience with social media in an institutional setting.
- Experience within a national laboratory or other science-based organization.

Notes:
- This is a full time, 1 year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
- The full salary range for this position is $57,156.00 - $96,420.00. The budgeted salary range that the Lab reasonably expects to pay for this position is $67,875.60 - $75,020.40. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, and certifications, and also aligned with the internal peer group.

- This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule - a combination of teleworking and performing work on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA. Work schedules are dependent on business needs. Individuals working a hybrid schedule must reside within 150 miles of Berkeley Lab.
